Shut Down the Lies

Since the day the devil lost his position in heaven, he has been on a mission to keep us from receiving all God has in store for us.  For every lie conceived by life’s experiences, disappointments, failures, and self-comparisons to others; we must immediately shut it down with the Word of God. Matthew 4:1-11 shows how Jesus shut down lies presented by the great deceiver. We can use his example to conquer negative thoughts that come our way.

For instance, instead of buying into the lies implying you are worthless, unattractive, or inept (and the list goes on), respond by declaring God’s Word, which says we are His masterpiece. God purposefully handcrafted and designed you with your unique personality, physical attributes, gifts, wisdom, and knowledge to bless the world. He stamped you with His seal of approval. Ephesians 2:10 NLT states, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

When your mind is invaded by negative thoughts suggesting you will never be successful or accepted in certain circles because you do not possess the right name, notoriety, amount of money, or fame; declare God’s Word and state that you are royalty. The blood of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, runs through our veins. 1 Peter 2:9 ESV states, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

During those times when you are at your weakest point ready to concede to the voices of defeat, declare God’s Word, which says you are Victorious. God declared you a winner. Romans 8:37 ESV states, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For every challenging situation, His grace is sufficient for me…” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT states, “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

When you are feeling vulnerable and like prey to a hungry lion, stand up and protest by saying that you are covered by His protection. There is nothing to fear with God on your side. Psalms 18:2 NLT states, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.”

Every time you are flooded with guilt and condemnation for doing something wrong or missing the mark, remind yourself that God has forgiven you. Self-condemnation has no place in your life. 1 John 1:9 ESV states, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

The next time the enemy attacks your mind with lies, shut them down by identifying, meditating, and declaring the scriptures related to your situation. This is not a one time fix. If the devil made repeated visits to Jesus with lies (as stated in Matthew 4:1-11), you can guarantee he will reappear to you. Be ready and prepared for his next visit.

Amen! There’s POWER in declaring what the Word says about us. “If the devil made repeated visits to Jesus with lies”, then why do we think that he won’t continually revisit us. Satan ALWAYS comes back and seeks a more opportune time when we have relaxed our guard. We silence the enemy through believing, professing and agreeing what God says about us.
Fully Armed & Battle-ready in Christ!

  2. Thank you. I’m literally sitting here watching a sermon and thinking to myself That I’m not good enough for the task he has in front of me and why did he choose me and feeling really insecure in spreading his gospel in the current situation I’m in. But that message just reminded me that it’s not about how I see it and actually not about me at all and to allow God to use me. All I must do is obey his word. So thank you from the depths of my spirit 😘

    1. Amen! Powerful, God has called us as women to a wonderful position of love and uniqueness in Him. It is through His love that we walk in power and control over the enemy when he tries to take our minds and peace captive. We shall speak only the word rendering satan ineffective. The blood speaks a better word!

  3. Yes, .the word of God is our weapon of warfare. Let’s use it and yield the results we desire!!!

  4. If Jesus dealt with it, then we will too.. but we have the Holyspirit, and God’s word that declares we are more than conquerors! We are victorious already!!

  5. Thank you for the inspirational words of wisdom. Each day and every minute is a spiritual warfare and what we claim is the outcome of the situation.

  6. I just finish a study by Allen Parr on the Downfall of Lucifer (Satan, the devel) whatever you want to call him, but he is the author of lies. Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate God, because not only in lies that the enemy tells, we have to remember he has no authority over us and every lie, I must shut every temptation he tries to bring; our sinful-negative thoughts must be crucified daily.

These inspirational words are powerful! Thank you for encouraging the Body of Christ.

  8. We will reject the lies and receive the truth! This is a needed reminder. Thank you Maria for being an inspiration during this time, and providing the living word that gives us power.

  9. Amen sis ! Thank you for allowing God to use you to encourage His people. We have to constantly remind ourselves of what God’s Word has revealed about us and our situation when the enemy comes to feed his lies.
